A Recipe for Resilience

Oct 09, 2025

A crucial part of any intentional living journey is recognizing the importance of embracing setbacks as a natural part of the process. It seems so obvious on the surface, but truly and sincerely making peace with two steps back after taking three steps forward is much harder than it sounds.

How we respond to setbacks can either strengthen or deplete us. When seen as “failure,” they lead to despair. When seen as invaluable learning opportunities, they become fertile ground for significant growth.

The key is humility and preparation. It is essential to tame the pride that refuses to accept flaws and mistakes, and to set our daily intention to gather and carry a toolbox of strategies and solutions for rebounding with faith and hope. Building muscles of resilience requires practice in the small things, so it becomes muscle memory when we face bigger, unexpected challenges and stumbles.

This month’s FWL Podcast features a discussion on bouncing back with our special guest, Clinical Psychologist Dr. Roxanne Louh! Dr. Louh created a fantastic resource for our community titled “A Recipe for Resilience.” In our interview, she explains each ingredient and shares insightful ideas on habits and perspectives that transform a despairing mindset into one of optimism and stability. A downloadable PDF of the resource is available HERE. We highly recommend visiting our podcast page HERE and listening to our conversation for a deeper understanding of the ingredients listed. We pray it provides you with much encouragement and refreshment!
